Why Loveramics Tasting Cups Is Great For Home Baristas

The Loveramics Tasting Cups  are crafted elegantly to enhance the coffee tasting experience. We will find out how to taste with these cups and use it to brew better coffee.

The Loveramics Tasting Cups

Loveramics Tasting Cups

The Loveramics Brewers Tasting Cups are made of porcelain and are shaped into 3 profiles: ‘Nutty’, ‘Sweet’ and ‘Floral’. After tasting, there was a clear difference from the aromatics of the brew. The coffee opens up it’s profile based on the shape of the cup. For coffee professionals and enthusiasts, this is useful in evaluating the flavour properties of a single origin.

Brewers Tasting Cup Design

The tasting cups comes in 3 size range – 80ml, 150ml and 200ml made in 3 materials – Carrara, Basalt and Granite. Each material gives the cup a different tangible appearance. to the outer and inner bodies of the cup. I personally like how the Basalt and Granite feels. It is said that the cups can fit most drippers and served with milk-based coffee.

The shape of the opening for each cup is different from narrow to flared.

How to Prepare for Tasting

To start you can pre-heat the the cups with some water. Leave it for about 15 seconds to allow the heat to conduct naturally, and then pour out the water. After brewing your coffee, pour into each cup in small batches until you reach an even distribution of coffee.

Allow a few seconds for the coffee to settle into each cup. Start by smelling the aroma off the cups. Then take a sip to taste one cup after another and distinguish the difference.

Another method is to brew ice coffee or cold brew, and taste with the Loveramics tasting cups.

Integrating Loveramics Tasting Cups with Coffee Brewing

There are different ways you can use these cups as a utility in your coffee brews. Here are some ideas of how I use it for:

  • Understanding coffee flavours better from different countries
  • Fine-tuning grind size to reach a better flavour or balanced cup

After having used these cups, it has added some creativity into my workflow and opens up a new sensory experience. Let’s say if your Ethiopian coffee is more floral, you could taste it in comparison with the Nutty or Sweet cup. You might find that your coffee could not hit the sweetness level you expect, and therefore work on improving your recipe.

Final Thoughts

We usually start drinking coffee with a regular mug with little after thought on how cups can affect taste. The Brewers Tasting Cups offers an added experience to your daily coffee ritual.

If you often brew coffee and want to add more to your sensory experience, I highly recommend it. Plus, it’s design aesthetic makes it a nice addition. The only downside I see is that the brews gets cold quickly.

Besides that, it’s reasonably priced at around $11.50 per cup and you can buy it directly from Loveramics.
